"Learning to Love Africa: My Journey from Africa to Harvard Business School and Back" by Monique Maddy (HarperCollins, 2004)"
I found your website today (12.06.04) while looking for information on LAMCO.
Yesterday, I bought a book entitled: "Learning to Love Africa: My Journey
from Africa to Harvard Business School and Back" by Monique Maddy
(HarperCollins, 2004). I started reading it four hours ago and can't put it
down. It's a fascinating piece of history and it was great finding your
website to give additional perspectives (and to see how much people enjoyed
her father's restaurant).
Just wanted to thank you for your efforts.

"Allah is Not Obliged" by Ahmadou Kourouma
Once I heard on TV about a writer from Ivory Coast. He wrote a book about the "Children Soldiers" from Liberia.
His name is Ahmadou Kourouma, and the title of the book is "Allah nest pas oblige". The original book is written in French, published by Editions du Senil, but I got it in my language (German) with the name: Allah muss nicht gerecht sein.
It was very interesting to read, especially when you have been in this country. I know a lot of what has happened the past years, because I am still in contact with sister Johanna from the catholic mission. She is now in Ghana with about 30.000 women an children from Liberia. Last week Mrs. Rahm got a letter from her.
Maybe you have a chance to get this book, I am sure if you read this book, you will remember some places in Liberia.

"A Passage to Africa" by George Alagiah
The book is "A Passage to Africa" by George Alagiah. He is a news reporter with the BBC. He and his family, Sri Lankan Tamil, emigrated to Ghana in 1961. It starts with his story of Sri Lanka and Ghana at that time and continues with visits to various parts of Africa for the BBC much more recently, including Liberia.
When he arrives in Ghana he mentions Club Beer!! Happy = memories!
The book was published in 2001 in the UK by Little Brown & Co. Website http://www.littlebrown.co.uk
Am not sure in which countries it is available but worth checking out. I got mine from the library and the ISBN number is 0 3168 5554 5.
